Yew Chung Yew Wah (YCYW) Education Network offers scholarships annually to current and prospective students. Through this programme, YCYW is committed to recognising students' outstanding performance in academic achievements, leadership, and service.
These scholarships support proactive and talented students from around the globe, enabling them to benefit from our bilingual and holistic international education.
We expect scholarship recipients to strive for excellence, actively participate in campus life, lead by example, and contribute to society in line with the school's vision and values.
The YCYW Scholarship Programme not only offers financial support but also encourages students to actively engage in campus life, demonstrate leadership and a spirit of service, and support their overall development. Parents and students can apply for suitable scholarships based on their circumstances to further promote education and growth. The YCYW Scholarship Programme plans to exempt tuition fees for award-winning students in the form of percentages.

Madam Tsang Chor-hang Memorial Scholarship (Overall Achievement Award) recognises students with outstanding academic performance, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. Recipients will receive a 50%-100% tuition fee waiver, with support lasting up to 4 years.
Subject & Talent Award acknowledges students who excel in specific subjects or talents, motivating them to continually improve in their respective fields. Recipients will receive a 25%-50% tuition fee waiver, with support lasting for 1 year.
IGCSE/IB/A Level Award is designed for students who excel in IGCSE, IBDP, or A Level courses, emphasising a combination of academic achievement and leadership. Recipients will receive a 50%-100% tuition fee waiver, with support lasting for 2-4 years.
The school occasionally establishes special scholarships to support students of various ages and needs, such as the YWIES Zhejiang Tongxiang Primary Talent Scholarship, aimed at awarding primary school students who excel in the arts and talents.
The percentage of tuition fee waivers is adjusted according to each campus's circumstances, and the evaluation team will annually assesses students whose support period exceeds one year. For details, please consult the admissions office of each campus.
Some YCYW campuses have previously initiated scholarship programmes for internal students. For example, the Hong Kong Yew Chung scholarship programme has been running for over 20 years, and the YWIES Guangzhou and YWIES Shanghai Lingang campuses launched different scholarship programmes in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
As we celebrate over 90 years of our school's establishment, we aim to mobilise a larger resource network to create opportunities for more students, particularly those restricted by economic conditions, to receive quality international education. At the same time, we reward talented students, recognise their achievements, and commend their efforts.
Since the establishment of the school, Madam Tsang Chor-hang, the founder of YCYW, had never refused a student admission due to their family circumstances, which has become a consistent philosophy of YCYW.
Moreover, scholarships are not just financial rewards. We also hope to provide more development opportunities for students through this new programme, cultivating their community service, teamwork, and leadership skills.
YCYW places significant emphasis on the development of students' character. Looking back at YCYW's "Mission, Principles and Practices," the first point is: "We believe that the core purpose of education is character development," which means that educators should help students develop into moral, responsible, and civic-minded individuals.
Therefore, in the selection of the YCYW Scholarships Programme, we value the holistic development of students the most. We believe that every child is a complete individual, and education should consider the balance and comprehensive development of all aspects that constitute their complete personality, including physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social aspects.
Moreover, as artificial intelligence advances, technology increasingly replaces simple, repetitive, and mechanical human tasks.
In this context, schools should be more committed to cultivating students with irreplaceable skills that will have greater development space and possibilities in the future. Creativity, critical thinking, emotional cognition, team spirit, and global vision are the true values of being human that technology cannot replace. Therefore, these constitute important factors in our evaluation of scholarship candidates.
YCYW's "Mission, Principles, and Practices" also mention, "We believe that every child is unique, and their talents should be fully developed." Charley Eddolls, a foreign western teacher at YWIES Guangzhou Campus, also expressed this view well. She said, "I believe the role of a teacher is to fully develop the unique potential of each student."
These three awards are set based on the talents and abilities students exhibit in different aspects.
Some students have more talent in music, art and design, sports, etc.; some students excel in language, humanities, mathematics, or science courses; some students have made significant contributions to the school and community. We should recognise and encourage them, allowing them to have greater development opportunities in their areas of expertise. At the same time, they bring new and diverse voices to the school's teaching and activities.
Both internal and external students in grades 7-13 are eligible to apply for the YCYW Scholarship. The Madam Tsang Chor-hang Scholarship (Overall Achievement Award) is open to all students in grades 7-10; the YCYW Subject & Talent Award is open to all students in grades 7-13; the YCYW IGCSE/IB/A Level Award is open to all students in grades 10-13. However, all external applicants must first submit admission application materials and take the CEM and CPT tests before applying for the YCYW Scholarship.
The specific composition of the necessary and ideal qualities for each scholarship can be obtained by accessing the YCYW Scholarships application materials here.
All campuses will adopt a consistent overall scoring framework, but each campus can adjust the minimum standards for each scholarship.

An education pioneer with deep roots in Hong Kong, China, Yew Chung Yew Wah (YCYW) encapsulates a unique educational pedigree that combines the best of Chinese and Western cultures with a mission to raise competent, compassionate globally aware leaders who strive for a better world.
Visionary educator Madam Tsang Chor-hang founded the first Yew Chung school and kindergarten in Hong Kong in 1932. In the 1970s, Dr Betty Chan Po-king picked up her mantle to provide high quality bilingual education. In the 1990s, Yew Chung was invited to Shanghai and Beijing to open schools for expatriate communities on the Chinese mainland. Madam Tsang was ably succeeded by her daughter Dr Betty Chan Po-king along with her husband Professor Paul Yip Kwok-wah, who later founded Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network to prepare Chinese and expatriate students to make lifelong contributions on the international stage.
Since 1932, YCYW has grown from a seed planted in Hong Kong and transformed into a modern international education system leading the way to a bright future for humanity.
