Agriculture and farming are a significant component of our world and represent a multi-trillion-dollar industry. Learning to optimise plant growing conditions, manage disease and pest, improve the ecology and environment, and manage agricultural life cycles are all complex, inter-related systems that scientists, engineers and environmentalists can positively contribute to.
In the Smart Farm programme, students will learn to work in teams with members taking on different roles including system designers, data scientists, software engineers, agricultural researchers, and environmental journalists. Working together, teams will create and build their own systems for managing a section of the farm using high-tech approaches and data science.
On 15 June 2024, TEDxYouth@YCYWShanghai will commence at the Shanghai Children's Art Theatre. Alongside the thought-provoking presentations by students, the event will showcase the colourful project learning outcomes of YCYW students, including the YWIES Guangzhou Smart Farm programme mentioned in this article.
