The YCYW alumni gathering in San Francisco on 18 October 2026 brought together alumni from YCIS Silicon Valley, YCIS Hong Kong, YCIS Beijing, YCIS Shanghai, YWIES Shanghai Gubei, and YCIS Chongqing, alongside staff from YCIS Silicon Valley. Guests enjoyed lunch and the opportunity to catch up. It was the first global alumni event YCYW organised to bring together the YCIS Silicon Valley community and alumni from across YCYW campuses, strengthening ties among alumni and their connection with the schools.
The Event was honoured to welcome distinguished guests including Dr Lydia Chan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Yew Chung Education Foundation and Chairperson of the Council of Yew Chung College of Early Childhood Education (YCCECE); Ms Josephine Lo, Director of Creative Arts for the YCYW Education Network; and Mrs Michele Tom, Chair of the YCIS Silicon Valley Board and a former parent representative.
At the start of the gathering, Dr Chan conveyed greetings from Dr Betty Chan Po-king and shared the latest developments at YCYW schools and YCCECE. She also highlighted the College’s expanding range of programmes, including the proposed Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Child and Family Counselling, which is expected to launch in the 2027/28 academic year. Alumni showed particular interest in the College’s postgraduate courses, including the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood Education) and the Master of Education programmes.
Ms Lo then shared the latest updates from the YCYW alumni relations team. Mrs Tom spoke about the strong and important ties between YCIS Silicon Valley and the other YCYW schools, and how these connections could help alumni access technology companies and other resources in Silicon Valley.
The programme also included a visit to the YCIS Silicon Valley campus, where alumni had the opportunity to learn more about the school and its development.
Our appreciation goes to all the guests, alumni, family members and colleagues who joined us and helped make the gathering so warm and memorable. May these friendships continue to flourish across borders, keeping the YCYW community closely connected and mutually supportive.
