    Introduction

    The Cambridge A-Level Digital Media and Design course (9481) is ideal for students with a passion for creativity, technology, and visual storytelling. This subject focuses on developing skills in digital media production, graphic design, animation, and interactive media.

    Assessment

    The semester grade consists of homework and key assessments across the following milestones:

    Time Milestone/Content
    Mid-October Milestone 1: AO1 (Research and Record) – Focus on mind maps, proposals, briefs, artist studies, and observations.
    Early November Milestone 2: AO2 (Experimentation) – Includes artist study copies, technique studies, and experimentation.
    Early December Milestone 3: AO3 (Development and Refinement) – Further experimentation, feedback, and plans for final outcomes.
    1 week before Mock Exam Milestone 4: AO4 (Outcome Preparation) – Present completed support studies for Component 1.
    December Component 1 Due – Students complete a portfolio showcasing experimentations within a unified theme.
    Mid-January to Mid-April Regular milestones (AO1 to AO4) for Component 2 and 3 preparation, culminating in Component 2 external exams (10 hours in April).

     

    Examination Details

    • AS Level:
      • Component 1: Coursework – Portfolio of research, development, and final outcomes (50%)
      • Component 2: Externally Set Assignment – Preparatory period and a final piece under timed conditions (50%)
    • A Level (in addition to AS Level):
      • Component 3: Personal Investigation – In-depth research, practical, and written elements.
