Since its establishment in 1932, Yew Chung Yew Wah Education Network (YCYW) has continued to pioneer and innovate in the field of international education. The network has consistently upheld the philosophy that international education should embrace the essence of both Chinese and Western educational principles. YCYW aspires to be the trailblazer in international education in contemporary China.
In the last 90 years, an increasing number of individuals brimming with ideals and passion for international education have joined our endeavours, exploring the unlimited possibilities of international education.
To foster a wider and deeper exchange with industry leaders, parents and general public, we are pleased to share with you that on 1-2 March 2024, in collaboration with the International Education Research Office of the Shanghai Changning District Institute of Education, YCYW will hold its first International Education Symposium at Yew Chung International School of Shanghai Puxi (Hongqiao Campus).
The theme of the symposium will be "Transforming Education, Empowering Humanity: China's Contributions to the Understanding of International Education". The symposium will explore the present situation and practices of international education; examine how to cultivate future-oriented talent; and offer insights about our current knowledge and the emerging trends within the industry.
The symposium will feature speeches by renowned thought leaders in education. Professor Zhang Min-xuan, Director of the UNESCO Teacher Education Centre; and Mr Liu Jian, Deputy Director-General of Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, and Director of the Shanghai Astronomy Museum Administrative Committee; as well as thought leaders from the University of Oxford and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will contribute their insights and expertise at the symposium.
In addition to these distinguished speakers, YCYW staff members, influential parents, accomplished alumni, and representatives of industry media will contribute to the symposium. They will share their knowledge and experience in speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, thus enriching the depth and diversity of the symposium. It is worth mentioning that there will be a series of workshops related to university application and family education. We sincerely welcome the participation of parents and the public.
The two-day symposium coincides with YCYW's annual "Professional Development Days". The event will provide a professional exchange platform for teaching and non-teaching staff members across campuses, disciplines, and departments. It will also promote the distinctive "Learning Community" model, encourage the sharing of knowledge, and facilitate communication and collaboration among staff members to improve teaching skills and quality. In 2023, the "Professional Development Days" attracted an unprecedented turnout—more than 2,000 Chinese and international faculty and staff members participated in more than 70 webinars.
You are cordially invited to join the symposium either onsite or via our live broadcast. Please stay tuned for upcoming announcements and the latest updates!
